Women's Education Program

The Women's Education Program is currently being run by DVRS at the Mackay Women's Centre.


This program has the primary objective of maximising the safety of victims of family violence. It has been developed in the belief that knowledge is power and our history of women supporting women in proud and effective. The program provides education, support and information - by women, for women.


Program Objectives


The objectives of the program are:



To provide education and information about the nature of family violence.

To assist women to assess safety issues and to develop strategies that enhances their present and future safety.

To provide women with information and the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012, including Domestic Violence Protection Orders.

To provide women with the education and information to assist them to make informed decisions about their futures; including the kinds of relationships they want for themselves and their children.

  The program runs for 6 weeks, on Wednesday mornings, at the Mackay Women's Centre.
  Women need to enrol and begin the program as a group.
  There is a gold coin donation for refreshments.
  Childcare will be provided.
